Nieto
Louis-Ferdinand Nieto Peralta Adams del Rio Siete Colores est né en 1979 en Colombie. Il fut d'abord élève séminariste, mais s’est très vite passionné pour les sciences naturelles, la linguistique et la psychanalyse. Il poursuit des études à L’Université del Valle à Cali où il obtient en 2001 une Maîtrise en Psycholinguistique.
Arrivé en France en 2002, Nieto fréquente les ateliers de Claude Closky et de Pat Andrea à l’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, d’où il est expulsé en 2008. Puis il effectue une année de post-diplôme à l’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs à Paris.
Adepte de l’exposition comme expérience active et ré-active pour le spectateur, l’artiste conteur a, pour chacune de ses expositions personnelles à la galerie Da-End (devenue son terrain de jeu) déployé un univers spécifique à la narration délirante empreint de symbolisme, de cataclysme et d’ironie. Qu’il s’empare d’un sujet telle l’apocalypse, ou qu’il vienne en démiurge à l'exposition d'un autre, Nieto n'a de cesse de s'approprier tous les médiums dont il dispose - sculpture, peinture, dessin, assemblage, vidéo et autres artifices scéniques - pour parvenir à ses fins. Ce qui prime pour lui, c’est l’histoire à inventer et à mettre en scène, et tous les moyens sont bons, quitte à effacer le rôle selon lui superflu de l’artiste. “Le divertissement que Nieto poursuit par son propre travail, (…) est davantage à entendre au sens pascalien du terme. Pétri de métaphysique, il ne se soucie ni du mauvais goût ni de la folie et nous invite à considérer ce qui fait un artiste au-delà de sa vie et de sa place dans un circuit médiatisé.” (Henri Guette)
Passionné de cinéma d'un autre genre, l'artiste vidéaste a toujours filmé toutes ses expériences et expérimentations. En 2009, il a codirigé avec le primatologue Pr. Shibuya, un protocole expérimental sur la communication animale au Japon appelé «Capucine». Ce processus réussi a conduit Capucine (un singe capucin) à obtenir le titre de premier cinéaste singe au monde. Il participe à différents festivals cinématographiques dont l'Imagine Science Film Festival ou le festival d'Annecy (2021).
Peintre, plasticien, musicien, réalisateur, et depuis dix ans Nieto est aussi metteur en scène d’opéras auprès de l'ensemble Le Balcon avec notamment les pièces : La Métamorphose de Michael Levinas, Jakob Lenz de Wolfgang Rihm, Samstag aus Licht de Karlheinz Stockhausen (Philharmonie de Paris et l’IRCAM - Centre Pompidou.). Il a participé aussi aux Tétramorphes de Marco Suárez-Cifuentes, présenté à la Biennale de Venise en 2018.
Louis-Ferdinand Nieto Peralta Adams del Rio Siete Colores was born in 1979 in Colombia. He was initially a seminary student, but soon developed a passion for the natural sciences, linguistics and psychoanalysis. He continued his studies at the University of Valle in Cali where he obtained a Master's degree in Psycholinguistics in 2001.
After arriving in France in 2002, Nieto attended the workshops of Claude Closky and Pat Andrea at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, from which he was dismissed in 2008. Then he did a year of post-graduation at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
Adept of the exhibition as an active and reactive experience for the viewer, the storyteller artist has, for each of his solo exhibitions at the Da-End gallery (which has become his playground), deployed a specific universe with a delirious narrative imbued with symbolism, cataclysm and irony. Whether he takes on a subject such as the apocalypse, or whether he comes as a demiurge to the exhibition of another, Nieto never ceases to appropriate all the mediums at his disposal - sculpture, painting, drawing, assemblage, video and other scenic devices - to reach his ends. The story is the most important thing for him, it has to be invented and staged, and all ways are good, even if it means erasing the role of the artist, according to him, superfluous. "The entertainment that Nieto pursues by his own work, (...) is more to be understood in the Pascalian sense of the term. Impregnated with metaphysics, he does not care about bad taste or madness and invites us to consider what makes an artist beyond his life and his place in a mediatized circuit." (Henri Guette)
Passionate about another kind of cinema, the video artist has always filmed all his experiences and experiments. In 2009, he co-directed with the primatologist Pr. Shibuya, an experimental protocol on animal communication in Japan called "Capucine". This successful process led Capucine (a capuchin monkey) to obtain the title of the first monkey filmmaker in the world. He participates in various film festivals such as the Imagine Science Film Festival or the Annecy Festival (2021).
Nieto is a painter, visual artist, musician, director, and also director of operas since ten years, with the ensemble Le Balcon. He directed La Métamorphose by Michael Levinas, Jakob Lenz by Wolfgang Rihm, Samstag aus Licht by Karlheinz Stockhausen (Philharmonie de Paris and IRCAM - Centre Pompidou.) He also participated in Marco Suárez-Cifuentes' Tetramorphs, presented at the Venice Biennale in 2018.
